Call for tutors!                                                                                  

Dates: August 6-12 2028, Queen Margaret University, Musselburgh, near Edinburgh, Scotland       

Are you passionate about braids, bands and other narrow wares? 

Can you inspire others to learn? 

Would you like to teach a workshop at the Braids 2028 conference to be held at Queen Margaret University, Musselburgh, Scotland in August 2028? 

We plan to have workshops and lectures on a variety of narrow-ware topics from across the world, including any used in Scotland and the rest of the UK.

The conference will last from Sunday afternoon to Friday evening, and coincides with part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival so there will be a lot to do and see outside of the conference too. We expect to have 120-150 participants and to follow the pattern of previous conferences in having four days of one or two-day workshops with some morning lectures before classes start and a day trip out to local places of interest on the Wednesday. 

We would like to offer both introductory and advanced workshops using various techniques – could you teach kumihimo, tablet weaving, ply split braiding, fingerlooping, inkle, ribbon tapes and other woven bands, fingerweaving, sprang, lace, passementerie, lucet or straw-braiding or any similar narrow ware crafts?

Do you have in-depth knowledge of a related topic that you could talk about for one of our short morning lectures? 

Tutors and speakers will receive payment in the form of a discount on the conference fees and some grants towards travel expenses will be available. Further details of what we will be able to offer will follow in due course. 

The participants will be eager, skilled and ready to learn.  If you would like to teach or offer a lecture, preferably in English, please respond with the following information, preferably as a Word document or alternatively a .pdf file:
